Since no one can leaf through books in an actual bookstore or library these days, my publisher and I have decided to give you a visual taste of “Women Win the Vote!”
For the past few weeks, I’ve been posting illustrated pages from the book in what I’ve called the #19forthe19th series. I’ll keep posting the pages until all 19 suffragists are represented. The gorgeous illustrations and vibrant design of this book are well worth sharing! Click on the links for my facebook, instagram and twitter feeds to see the pages I’ve posted so far.
Each chapter of the book opens with a page like this one for Lucretia Mott, who is considered the mother of the women’s movement and one of the first to champion the woman’s vote. The page includes a historic photo, an inspiring quote, and drawings that illustrate some of the scenes in the profile.
For these fabulous pages, I want to give a shout-out to Katy Dockrill, the illustrator, and Kristine Brogno, the book designer. I’m in awe of their talent, and so grateful it was applied to my book!
