The calendar has finally flipped! It’s January 2020. I’ve been thinking about this year, writing about this year, waiting for it and dreaming about it, and now it’s here!
The countdown has started for the release of my book Women Win the Vote! 19 for the 19th Amendment from Norton Young Readers. The date of February 11th has been etched on my mind for more than a year now, and finally I’ll see it on my calendar.

Every day, I wake up grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to write about the American suffragists. They’re a fascinating group of women stretching from the mid-1800s until 1920, when the Nineteenth Amendment was finally ratified.
Even after finishing the book, I’ve continued to research the suffrage fight. I can’t seem to stop! Every new fact, or story, or rumor I come across adds to the drama of this historic fight. I’ll be writing here about some of the new discoveries I’ve made. Like these:
How did the suffragists finance their movement?
Why were some women opposed to having to the vote?
How did women use their creative gifts to further the cause?
What personal costs did women suffer in their campaign for the vote?
I’ll be spreading suffrage news in my wake everywhere I go! You can find me on facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and goodreads — just click on the icons on the home page. And the book is pretty much everywhere — Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online and bricks-and-mortar booksellers, as well as retailers like Target.
If you have a question or comment, you can reach me through the “Contact Me” page here on the website. And if you’re a teacher who would like to use the book in your classroom, click on the “For Teachers” link on the home page to access a free, downloadable teachers guide. Check back regularly here, where I’ll be blogging and posting upcoming events. It’s going to be an exciting year!
