An author's dream review

Some of my author friends are strong enough not to read reviews of their books. Me? I read every single word of every single review. If it's out there, I want to know about it. If it's a good review, it makes my day. If it's a bad review, I just consider the reviewer's comments to be editorial guidance for me going forward.

The other day, I was fortunate enough to get one of those good -- and I mean, really good -- reviews. The reviewer's words brought me to tears! When I tell other people's stories in my books, I am eager for readers to love them as much as I do, and I am so grateful to hear it when they do.

The reviewer was writing about my book Miracles & Moments of Grace: Inspiring Stories from Doctors and this is what he or she had to say:

"As far as I am concerned, this is one of the best books I have ever read.... It demonstrates the survival of the human spirit and holds your interest because it is so richly woven. Each chapter truly holds you on the edge of your seat.... It is gripping in its pathos and suspense.... Ms. Kennedy is to be lauded for working so tirelessly on this incredible book. Highly Recommended!"

If you were that reviewer, I thank you! This kind of affirmation rarely comes an author's way. These are words I can live on for the rest of my life!

Good things are happening!

I've had a lot of excitement here the last few weeks. Let me share some of the good things that are happening with the Miracles and Moments of Grace series.

First, and VERY exciting for me, is that MMG: Inspiring Stories from Doctors is now being sold in Cracker Barrel stores. I took a field trip to the Clinton, NJ, Cracker Barrel this weekend, and, yes, it was there! You can also find it online on Cracker Barrel's website..

Meanwhile, MMG: Inspiring Stories from Doctors is getting a great reception. Here's one nice review from the Medical Campus Outreach of Tenth Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia. MCO's Karen Fritz, MD, helped me find doctors to interview for the book.

Lastly, today on Military Mom Talk Radio , I'll be talking about MMG: Military Chaplains at 2 p.m PST (5 p.m. EST). Tune in online at www.toginet.com.

A few good blog reviews

I've been so pleased to see Miracles and Moments of Grace getting some good reviews online. I'm especially pleased with the reviews from members of the military and their families. It means a lot to me to know that the book is bringing hope and comfort to military families, especially those have experienced or are experiencing deployment.

Let me share with you links to a few of the reviews. They tell you more about the stories in the book. I enjoy seeing how people appreciate and are touched by different stories in the book.

From Judy McCloskey of CatholicMil.org.

From Lauren of Army Chaplains Wife.

From Cat of 5 Nuts in a Nutshell.

From Natasha of A Life Worth Living for Him.

Thank you everyone for your kind and generous reviews!

A graduation gift

The other day, Natasha, of the blog A Life Worth Living for Him, reviewed Miracles and Moments of Grace after receiving a review copy.

Natasha's husband Jeff is currently completing his studies and is training to be an Army chaplain. In an e-mail to me this morning, Natasha had this lovely story to tell me.

"After I read and reviewed your book, my husband decided he would like his own personal copy of it. We'd talked about it several times, but we had never made it to the store. Well, last night as we sat waiting for our church service to begin, I decided I would get him the book for his birthday this week.

Just then, an older widow friend of ours approached Jeff with a gift bag -- "a little something for graduating seminary," she said.

After the service, Jeff opened the bag -- it was your book! I think we both almost cried! Jeff was so excited, he rushed over to her to thank her and share with her 'our experience' with the book."

Thank you for sharing your story, Natasha. I'm glad Jeff has his own copy now. But I am sorry you have to come up with another idea for his birthday!
